Article Overview
When creating a dosing schedule in Ritten, one of the interval options available is Doses. This article covers what the Doses interval does, and how Ritten recalculates a schedule when a dose is given late or missed.
đŁ For the full walkthrough of creating a dosing schedule, including all the other fields, check out Creating Schedules from eRx Orders.
Using the "Doses" Interval
Choosing the Doses interval creates a dosing schedule based on a number of medication administrations, as opposed to a number of calendar days. This is especially useful for tapers, or medications that require all doses be taken.
đĄ Create tapered dosing schedules with multiple scheduling blocks.
Recalculating for Late or Missed Doses
After selecting the Doses interval, you have the option to select Re-calculate next dose for late or missed doses.
What Happens When a Dose Is Missed
Once a dose is missed, you're unable to log subsequent doses. Ritten is waiting until the missed dose is administered to recalculate the next dosing time based on the frequency. That's why, in the image below, the time is listed as "TBD" in the Daily Log.
In Med Pass, you'll see the originally scheduled med admin times, but when you navigate to the client's MAR, you'll only be able to log the dose that was originally refused.
Logging the Missed Dose
Log the dose that was originally refused in the client's MAR. You'll know which one it is because the status will be Now.
Recalculation After Logging
In both the Daily Log of the client's MAR and Med Pass, Ritten will recalculate the dosing times based on when the medication was actually given.
đŁ Ritten will continue to alert you to administer doses until all doses in that taper are finished.
